Install & run

No installer, no Unity, nothing to set up — just unzip and play.

  1. Download the zip above and extract it (right-click → Extract All) to a folder you'll remember.
  2. Open the folder and run Abdicant.exe.
  3. Windows will warn “Windows protected your PC” (the build isn't code-signed yet). Click More info → Run anyway — it's safe.
Heads up This is an early build with a “Made with Unity” splash and rough edges — that's expected. Your job is to find the parts that feel broken, confusing, or fun.

Reporting a bug or idea 1 click

There's a floating “?” bubble at the top of the screen the whole time you play. It's the fastest way to tell me something.

  1. Click the ? bubble whenever something happens (a crash, a weird result, or just a thought).
  2. It quietly packages up your log + save + what was happening, and opens a pre-filled email.
  3. Describe what happened in a sentence or two and hit send. That's it — the technical stuff is already attached.

You can drag the bubble anywhere if it's in your way. If your email client doesn't pop up, mail me at kaercha@gmail.com and mention roughly what you were doing.

What to test

Play however you like, but these are the areas I most want eyes on:

Combat

Move, attack, use abilities, and react to enemy telegraphs. Does the turn order make sense? Do the previews match what actually happens? Anything that soft-locks or feels unfair?

Camp — loadout & equipment

Between battles, open a character and try the tabs: swap abilities, equip gear from your inventory, look at the class and evolution screens. Is it clear what each thing does?

The Act 1 levels

Fight through the encounters. Watch for enemies spawning in walls/water, objectives that don't resolve, or dialogue that repeats or misfires.

Stability

Crashes, freezes, or anything that makes you go “that's not right.” Even small visual glitches are useful — hit the ? button and fire it off.

first playtest build

The first sharable vertical slice. What's in it:

  • Grid tactical combat — movement, attacks, charged & instant abilities, and a reaction system (dodge / block / counter) when enemies telegraph a hit.
  • Camp hub — per-character loadout (abilities priced by a Memory budget), equipment with a shared party inventory, class and evolution screens, and an ability library you grow by Siphoning enemies.
  • Loot — victories drop gear into your inventory to equip on your party.
  • AI allies & escorts — story allies fight alongside you; some levels task you with protecting a VIP.
  • Act 1 — six encounters with objectives and battle dialogue.
  • Races & evolution — including the Elf → High Elf → Night Elf arcane line (with teleport movement and invisibility on the later stages).
  • Basic equipment set — leather / linen / wood gear and minor accessories.
  • In-game feedback button — the ? bubble described above.
